It's about that time for the alewife to arrive in Mill Brook on their way to Highland. Please sign-up! See Doodle link in table below. 

I am also hoping you can pass this email along to anyone that you think would be interested in participating in the volunteer count this year. Word-of-mouth promotion is noted as a powerful means of recruiting environmental volunteers.

The table below should provide all the pertinent information but I am always happy to speak with folks so send them my way! By phone or e-mail.

In the past the alewife arrive around May 15th but we never really know so it is good to get the word out earlier rather than later.

Only 30-minutes per count slot! There are 4 count slots per day. Each count slot is 3-hours, from 7-10:00am10-1:00pm1-4:00pm and 4-7:00pm. Count any 30-minutes during each slot.


4 counts per day from early May to early June (fish migration varies)


Highland Lake Dam, Highland Lake, Duck Pond Road (at Highland/Mill Brook Dam), Westbrook, Maine
