Maine Public Radio, on the program "Maine Calling", is going to feature "citizen science" and Prof. Karen Wilson at 1 PM Friday July 15. Dr. Wilson has worked with Highland Lake Association and its Water Quality Committee for decades, using our lake as a field teaching site for her environmental science classes at the University of Southern Maine, and more recently, counting alewives, and we cooperate with her husband Dr. Theo Willis on monitoring the fish ladder, and the Gulf of Maine Research Institute. Karen asks that we call in or send a message during the program, tell why volunteering is important to us, what benefits we receive, and what we feel about helping science, and ask questions.  Call 1-800-399-3566.  Email  Tweet @MaineCalling.
