Scenes from Highland Lake

Originally known as Duck Pond, Highland Lake is a 623-acre lake located in the municipalities of Falmouth, Windham, and Westbrook. The watershed area is 8.5 square miles; maximum depth is approximately 67 feet.

The lake is fed by springs and streams. The major inlet, MacIntosh Brook is located at the north end of the lake. The south end empties into a channel, which continues to the Highland Lake dam (owned by the City of Westbrook), and becomes the headwaters of Mill Brook, a major tributary of the Presumpscot River, and then on to Casco Bay.

A public boat access (carry-in only) can be found off Mast Road in Falmouth, just before the Westbrook line.

We encourage you to explore the website and visit the lake. We also ask that you “wash it before you float it.” Highland Lake remains free of Eurasian milfoil and we hope to keep it that way.
